For over 62 Seasons, TWO has become an integral part of the Owensboro community, providing an arts home for theatre-makers and audiences alike. As part of this legacy, we are proud to be the custodians of two historic spaces, the Trinity Centre and the Empress Theatre. These old buildings impart their own ambience to the shows we produce. But like many old buildings, sometimes they give us challenges and surprises that can disrupt our plans.

On August 12, 2026, TWO staff were dismayed to discover that the beautiful blue velvet curtains in the audience chamber of the Empress had fallen, bringing plaster and lighting fixtures down with them and causing damage to seats and the flooring below. We are relieved that this happened when the building was empty and no injuries were sustained, but we anticipate lengthy and costly repairs and remediation throughout the space. Due to these damages, Empress Theatre will be closed for the foreseeable future, and shows originally planned for Empress will be moved to Trinity Centre.
